3SX / SPEC Clutch Sets
3000GT / Stealth VR-4 / Twin Turbo

3SX has been selling and running SPEC clutches for years and experience has told us they stand on their own as far as reliability, durability, and drivability. They offer a wide range of clutches to suit almost any need, from daily commuters to track monsters! One great feature they have over many other aftermarket clutches is the engineering that goes into their pressure plates. Many aftermarket clutches end up with a very heavy pedal pressure, making driving an utter workout on the left leg! Not so with the SPEC clutches - the pedal pressure on the AWD VR4/TT clutches is barely more than stock.

Think about what your driving habits are, and take a look at the various options available here. Daily drivers that never see a track and those that make occasional trips to the track will be better with the lower stage clutches, and probably a sprung hub disc to easy on pedal/clutch engagement feel. The higher up the stage chart (further down the list) you go, the more aggressive (grabby) the clutches get - "grabby" being the distance your foot/pedal travels from the time it starts to engage to being fully engaged. Sprung hubs help absorb some of this friction and smooth out the engagement.

The SPEC clutch kits are complete install kits including the pressure plate and disc, as well as a new throwout/release bearing and disc alignment tool. Attachment bolts are NOT included.

Stage 1
Steel backed woven organic disc, 491 ft/lb capacity. Basically a stock replacement disc with the upgraded pressure plate for better daily capacity.

Stage 2
Segmented chatter-free "full face" kevlar disc, sprung hub disc for easy daily driving but more holding for occasional track trips, 561 ft/LB capacity

Stage 2-PLUS (solid disc)
Hybrid disc with segmented chatter-free kevlar on one side and the carbon semi-metallic on the other, solid hub disc specially for 3SX for more holding for occasional track trips, 629 ft/LB capacity, great street/strip clutch!

Stage 2-PLUS (flipside)
The pressure plate side of the disc with the 6-puck carbon semi-metallic material. Makes a nice compromise between the Stage 2 and Stage 3.

Stage 3
3-piece carbon semi-metallic 6-puck disc with sprung hub, sharp but smooth engagement with a light pedal, 670 ft/LB capacity, great street/strip clutch!

Stage 3-PLUS
Full-faced carbon semi-metallic sprung-hub disc offers capacities of the Stage 5 but the drivability of Stage 3! 778 ft/LB capacity.

Stage 4
2-piece carbon semi-metallic 6-puck disc with solid hub, 670 ft/LB capacity, for the serious road and/or drag racer.

Stage 4-PLUS
Custom Special for 3SX!!
Full-faced carbon semi-metallic solid-hub disc,
670 ft/lb capacity, with the drivability of Stage 4!
Essentially a 3+ without the springs.

Meet THE MEAT!
Stage V
This is strictly strip or road course and its all business! With a 943 ft/LB capacity, this full-metallic iron compound solid hub clutch will grab and not let go of just about anything you can push through to the wheels. Why bother with the fragile and touchy multi-disc carbon/carbon clutches that cost 5 times as much?! This baby has held both T2 (820 FWHP) and T4 (996 AWHP) through all of their repeated world record track runs, as well as 3SX Service Manager Chris's daily driver 747hp/811tq VR4!

Add a lightweight aluminum flywheel for a complete upgrade package!

NOTE: 3SX actually recommends against the Stage 3 and Stage 3-Plus for owners who plan to track their car - there have been a couple instances where hard driving with these clutches paired with the all-wheel-drive drivetrain and inherent weight and traction of the VR4/TT has resulted in the springs in the disc popping out. Due to the characteristics of the VR4/TT drivetrain, 3SX recommends an unsprung disc for track-bound cars.

Clutch and flywheel mounting bolts and pins are listed here.
