The Fast Idle Air Valve is mounted to the underside of the throttle body. It contains a wax-ball type valve that controls coolant going through the throttle body. This serves to raise the engine idle between 800 and 1500 RPM when the engine is cold. Once the coolant gets to temperature, the valve closes and idle returns to normal.

There are 5 screws that hold the FIAV to the bottom of the throttle body. They are NOT included with the valve but we offer them separately. There are 4 of the LONG screws and 1 of the SHORT screws - they are sold individually. NOTE: The screws are in tight and likely stuck simply due to the age of these cars. We recommend clamping the throttle body in a vice and using a large handled screw driver to break them free with less chance of stripping the heads of the screws. Replacements are here if you need them :)
These are brand new genuine OEM Mitsubishi parts.
Note: This will also work on a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero LS 3.0 V6 6G72 / Thank you Resilient Automotive
