PST Aluminum/Steel Driveshaft for AWD TT/VR4
This 2-piece driveshaft offers a more affordable option for saving weight in your drivetrain - 26.55 pounds versus the stock 40 pound assembly! The 26.5 pound weight is without the carrier bearing, the assembly weights 28.45 pounds with the included carrier. The back half of this setup is aluminum and features greasable and serviceable U-joints.
We recommend this driveshaft as an upgrade and/or replacement for your factory driveshaft. For one it costs significantly less that replacing the non-serviceable stock drive shaft. Second, it IS a serviceable driveshaft with greasable and replaceable u-joints. Third, the ole addage "if you gotta replace it, you might as well upgrade it" plays true with the weight savings in the drivetrain. This shaft is great for a daily-driven car or one that is headed for the track!
Available in both 5-speed and 6-speed applications.
NOTE: This driveshaft kit is FULL LENGTH and includes both the front and back pieces AND the carrier bearing. It is a complete bolt-in replacement for the full stock 3-piece driveshaft from the transfer case to the rear differential.
PST Replacement Carrier Bearing
If you need a replacement carrier bearing, they are offered separately. The PST 2-piece driveshafts for the AWD 3000GT/Stealth/GTO (both the Carbon Fiber and the Aluminum/Steel Hybrid shafts) do NOT use the factory Mitsubishi carrier bearing. They use one available separately through PST and offered here. We offer them as the entire carrier and bearing assembly, or JUST the bearing insert separately.
NOTE: If you opt for the "bearing only" option that it is ONLY the roller bearing and does NOT include the 2 spacers that actually house the roller bearing inside the rubber carrier - you will need to transfer those from your old bearing.
NOTE: If you buy the driveshaft, a new PST carrier bearing IS included, you do not need to purchase one separately.
